Peony Rubra Plena

Peony 'Rubra Plena'

Description

Paeonia officinalis 'Rubra Plena'. The quintessential old-fashioned peony, perfect for the cottage or medicinal garden. One of the earliest double peonies to flower with ruby red flowers and numerous petals. Often used as a cut flower in the past, but the petals drop quickly and better varieties are now available. May require some support depending on the character of your garden. Botanical ancestors are from southern and central Europe.

'Royal Horticultural Society' Award of Garden Merit 1993.
