Peony Kelway's Glorious

Peony 'Kelway's Glorious'

Description

Paeonia lactiflora 'Kelway's Glorious'. A sparkling white flower with a hint of pink on the large outer petals. The petals are loosely arranged to form a shallow double flower with a lovely rose fragrance. Although a fast growing variety, the mature flowers take a little longer to appear but are more double than in the photo. It is well worth the wait, as the saying goes: first the roots, then the shoots and then the flowers.

One of Kelway's finest peonies, registered in 1909, 40 years after he established his nursery near Langport in Somerset.

'Royal Horticultural Society' Award of Garden Merit.
