Description
Paeonia herbaceous hybrid 'Red Satin'. A dark, cherry-red, lustrous and luxurious double flower. Its strong stems and broad, dark green foliage complement the picture perfectly. This beautiful heirloom peony was created by Henry Sass and registered with the American Peony Society in 1937.
The Sass family were renowned for their hybridisation of both peonies and irises. A collection of their work can be found in the Sass Memorial Iris and Peony Garden at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park near Ashland in Nebraska.
