Peony Postillon

Peony 'Postillon'

Description

Paeonia herbaceous hybride 'Postillon'. Bright red cup-shaped flowers stand out just above the vibrant light green foliage. Several rows of rounded petals surround a tuft of yellow stamens. An impressive plant that can cover more than a square meter when mature.

Named after the 'postilion', the predecessor of the postman in reference to his bright red flashing uniform. He always rides one of the carriage horses, which distinguishes him from the coachman, who sits on the carriage.

Registered in 1941.
