Description
Paeonia lactiflora 'Florence Nicholls' This variety is characterised by its large, double, rose-shaped scented flowers. The petals have a mother-of-pearl colour when open and fade gently to white. The lovely fragrance is inherited from P. 'Madame Calot', one of the parent plants.
The strong upright stems with some side buds extend the flowering season, and flowers may require some support. But the sight of a plant in full bloom is more than worth the effort. We received these plants from Hollingsworth nursery many years ago and they have been a cherished addition to our collection ever since.
Registered in 1938.
'Royal Horticultural Society' Award of Garden Merit.
