Peony Cardinal's Robe

Peony Cardinal's Robe

Description

Paeonia herbaceous hybrid "Cardinal's Robe". One of Saunders beauties and rarely offered.  Name well chosen for this peony with single cardinal red flowers. Sometimes i pick one for a bouquet and it brings smiles to everyone’s faces. Equally so for the garden, cardinal’s robe is a stayer. The flowers hold well above the shiny and healthy lighter green foliage and make it one of the longer flowering Saunders Lobata or Perry red hybrids. Of course, it does not require any support.

Registered with the APS in 1943.
