Peony Fairfield

Peony Fairfield

Description

Paeonia herbaceous hybrid "Color Magnet". The buds and flowers start of ruby red and then turn deep magenta. The wavy, broadly rounded petals enclose a cluster of golden coloured stamens. Three to four lateral buds per stem extend the flowering season. The pollen-bearing flowers also produce multiple seed pods. These may be left on a mature plant and are very decorative. Even in a hot summer, the foliage remains green and healthy.

Upon emergence the new shoots are purple and eventually turn dark green.  One of the tallest landscape peonies, which needs no support. A hybrid from the same seedpod as Color Magnet, another favourite of the Hollingsworth collection!

Registered in 1997.
