Description
Paeonia herbaceous hybrid 'Lavon'. Layers of pink petals and soft yellow staminodes form a graceful double flower. The long stems are ideal for a romantic display in the garden or in a vase. Some support is needed to hold the large clusters delicately scented flowers. This is a healthy variety that may take a few years to fully establish. But as the saying goes: first the roots then the shoots, but it is well worth the wait.
The variety is named after Lavon, a true peony enthusiast, running alongside Don Hollingsworth the thriving commercial peony nursery in Maryville. Throughout these years she immensely enjoyed attending the annual APS conventions, kindling dear friendships and promoting the Hollingsworth varieties and propagations. She welcomed me into their home and sharing her love of dogs and peonies made for easy conversation.
Parentage P. 'Nippon Gold' x P. 'Cytherea'.
