Peony Katharine Havemeyer
Paeonia lactiflora "Katharine Havemeyer". A quintessential peony flower overflowing with pearl coloured petals. The dark green foliage is a fitting backdrop for the buds, which from little pompoms turn into full double flowers. Stems are strong but, depending on your garden’s look & feel, might require some support.
Several side buds extend the flowering season of this prolific bloomer. Flowers are profusely scented and at times described by visitors as the scent of lily of the valley.
A variety named after the wife of Theodore Havemeyer (1868- 1936) horticulturist, garden writer and avid collector of lilacs, dahlias, irises and peonies. He worked together with Victor Lemoine, the famous originator of P. “Sarah Bernhardt”, in France!
Registered with the American Peony Society in 1921.
The new harvest can be ordered from February 1st for delivery from October onwards.
