Paeonia herbaceous hybrid 'Requiem', named by Professor Saunders after Mozart's last masterpiece. Fortunately, this was not his last cross and many more were to follow. However, it does show that he held this variety in high regard and rightly so!
The single white flowers are beautifully placed above the dark green glossy foliage and carried on strong stems. The petals are 'as tough as old boots'. Although classified as a single flower, it has little pollen and leaves little for the bees. An exemplary early mid-season landscape variety, suitable for the border or as a specimen.
Registered in 1941.
